Meet the Lil' Fam

Welcome to our Family Blog.

Jen, Mom, is the author and the rest of the family are the usual subjects of my posts.  I've been blogging for quite some time; I started blogging as a way to document the process of teaching our oldest son how to sleep through the night.  I've been an insomniac for years and would often find myself up late at night and on the computer.  I found that writing helped me sleep and hence the blog was created.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2001 but have since created another blog for writing about those adventures: http://sugarfreesweety.blogspot.sg/ I've been a wife since 2002 when Colin and I got married.  I've been a mom since 2005 when our oldest Ryan was born.  Evan is our second son, born in 2008.  I started teaching the same year we got married and although I don't do it full-time anymore, I haven't ever really left the teaching scene.  I substitute at the boys' school and find lots of joy and fulfillment in teaching Elementary aged kids.  Besides being a wife, mom, diabetic, and teacher, blogging is really my only hobby in addition to my first true loves, laundry and dishes!  We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  In the fall of 2013 our lil' fam packed up and moved to the tiny island of Singapore in South East Asia.  We travel a little bit here and there but for the most part our lives center around our boys and their education.

Colin is our head of the house.  He's an investment banker working for a global firm.  He works hard and likes to play hard too.  He enjoys video games, gadgets, podcasting, and basketball.  Colin grew up in SE Asia so its fun for him to be here again showing the boys and I the place where he grew up.

Ryan is our oldest son.  He's a ball of fun with a great sense of humor.  He loves to make new friends and enjoys playing with his peers.  He shares his daddy's love of video games and basketball.  He enjoys building new Lego sets and likes to swim.  He's also a pretty fast runner.  Ryan has been talking since he was about 11 months old and sometimes he even talks in his sleep!  Ryan is learning the art of the pun from his grandpa and often comes up with his own laffy taffy jokes when learning new vocabulary.

Evan is our youngest son.  He's a super smart kid who, like his older brother, is quite funny.  He loves school and learning new things.  He's constantly discovering, observing, and sharing his knowledge with the rest of us.  Evan loves to make things.  He also enjoys dressing up in different costumes and outfits like pirates, ninjas, and soldiers.
