Adventure Cove

Image
Evan has fall break this week so we took a trip down to the island of Sentosa and met up with some friends at the water park, Adventure Cove.  It was an amazing day.  The kids and I played so hard!  We had a great time getting to know new people and of course riding all of the slides and swimming in all of the attractions.  I think the lazy river was my favorite part.  I love water parks so I've been to plenty and this one was the longest, and most interactive one I'd seen.  You can see into two different aquariums as you float down.  Pretty cool.  Our favorite ride was the rocket.  The line was super long but worth the wait.  I'd never been on a water slide that goes UP hill before.  So fun! Monsoon Season

Image
The rainy season has started here.  I guess in the tropics you call that monsoon season.  No one really seems to refer to it as that but I do.. anyway.  It's pretty crazy how the sky will be clear and then in about 20 minutes or less, all of the sudden you're in the middle of a downpour.  Colin and I text each other a lot during the day because he's gone for so long at work.  I'll often get a text from him that says, "cats and dogs down here" and I'll send him something similar.  It is funny but it always seems to rain around the same time of day.  I guess that's nice, a little predictable.  The rain usually comes to our neck of the woods right after school.  Sometime between 3:00-5:00 pm.  The other day I went to pick up Evan from school and I could tell it was getting ready to rain any minute.  It was litterally seconds after I walked into the house that it started a downpour.  We have this field behind our house.  One ...

Halloween 2013

Image
Halloween in Singapore.  Well, it was a lot like Halloween in the United States, but there were definitely some differences.  For one thing, I didn't know where on earth to get a good costume.  So, naturally, I turned to Pintrest and saved some of the million (okay, that's an exaggeration; four hundred and two) moving boxes that I had and decided to MAKE my kids' costumes.   I started looking around for ideas and came up with a few possibilities. Because I'm a great mother, I let my kids decide.  I try to let them have choice in things like this.  I really wanted Ryan to be a Tardis but he wanted to be Steve from Minecraft LAST year so I relented and made him that this year.  Evan decided on a robot.   At the beginning.  2 ordinary moving boxes. All finished! The boys were so excited, they wanted to show off their costumes. The Saturday before Halloween, we attended a party.  I only took one picture.  Oops! ...

Fall Festivities

Image
Saturday at SAS was full of awesome activities for Halloween.  We spent a good part of the day there enjoying the festivities.  There was a haunted house, a pumpkin patch, an International Food Fest, and lots of vendors.  Many of the booths were raising money for various charities and non-profit organizations.  It feels good to help support such noble causes.  The boys had a blast and we did too!  Colin and I especially enjoyed the time on campus and the food, of course! Colin saw the Thai food booth and said, we have to get you some Thai food.  We tried some curry and mango sticky rice.  It was indeed very delicious.   Ryan got do drive this robot.  I still think of my little sister every time I buy cotton candy.  Growing up, Jess loved that stuff.  And I think she still does! Evan has been in love with the color green lately.  If it isn't green, he's likely to maybe even get ...
