4th Grade!

Image
At the end of the summer there's no way Ryan was as excited about entering the fourth grade as he was on the day he finally did.  Ryan had a bit of a rough year last year and this year he was ready for a FRESH start.  I was quite excited when I found out he was going to be in Mr. Davidson's class because he's got a good reputation at SAS.   The first week is done and Ryan is as happy as can be.  He LOVES Mr. Davidson and the rest of his specials teachers.  He is happy to have a few familiar faces in his class.  We are all looking forward to a GREAT year!

Singapore National Day

Singapore National Day is August 9.  This year that lands on a Saturday.  MY birthday actually happens to be the following day so we rolled them into one and CELEBRATED.  It was a pretty fun day.   Most of the housing developments here are showing their National pride with these beautiful flags displayed. We started the day off with Mos Burger (my favorite) and a movie.  We were a little early for the movie so we let the KIDS play at the arcade beforehand.   Air Hockey is my favorite.  Colin knows that and challenged me to a game.  He even let me get a few points too.   We saw Guardians of the Galaxy.  It was a pretty fun superhero flick with lots of action.    After the movie we headed downtown to go celebrate Singapore's 49th Birthday.  We had dinner early at Thai Express.  I love me some pad thai and they even made it with chicken instead of seafood. Colin's co-worker invited us do...

Oh, the Jet-Lag!

No matter how hard you try, you're still bound to have trouble adjusting to 14 hours in time change.  The boys never went to sleep the night we got home and went to play with friends at the Science Center anyhow.  It was actually probably better because they "almost made it the whole day".  The poor things just crashed the moment they walked in the door and didn't wake up until about 5 am the next day.   I was worried that the kids would wake up hungry if I didn't feed them before they fell asleep but before I could fix Evan a quesadilla he was asleep.   A few days into our return we had all "flipped" back to Singapore time.

Going back to Singapore

Colin left for Singapore a few days ahead of us.  His first flight got turned around and he had to wait until the following day to fly out.  The boys and I left on Thursday the 30th of July and with the time travel we arrived in Singapore on Friday the 1st of August.  We didn't exist in July 31 except for a few hours.  That sort of messes with your mind a little bit when you think about it.    The kids were pretty well behaved the whole trip and did OKAY on sleeping too.  We flew Alaska Airlines to Seattle then Delta to Tokyo and onto Singapore.  Ryan took these photos as we were getting ready to land in Seattle. This is us boarded our second flight.   Enroute.  Man.  That trip across the pacific is LONG.  And there are definitely longer flights than the one we took.  It's hard to get comfortable enough to sleep. Evan was pretty upset about that.  I told him to try and imagine being th...

California Road Trip

Image
14 of my closest family members and I traveled to California last week for our Clegg Family Reunion.  It was a grand-old time if I do say so myself.  Our reunion was held at Santee Lakes like last year.  This year attendance was pretty low, I'd say less than about 70 people, however we had a great time visiting with all who were able to come. Our time in California is never long enough but since I was only VISITING Utah this summer, it felt especially short.  Anyway, here are the photos I took of our trip.
