Halloween 2016!

Image
With Halloween on a Monday this year, my kids celebrated for about a week!  Ryan attended two parties, we had a neighborhood carnival, Red Ribbon Week, Pumpkin Carving with family, and then... the actual Halloween Day!  Whew!   Evan dressed as a character from Five Nights at Freddy's (a video game) called Balloon Boy.   Ryan dressed as Ash Ketchum, the Pokemon trainer from the Pokemon series (cartoon, cards, games, books, etc.)  I threw on a witch hat and boa and some red lipstick and everyone thought I was dressed  up!  ;) I watched Evan parade around his school, and then later came back to help with his class party! The boys trick-or-treated with a group of friends this year but I had to go check out what our neighbors had done with their Pirate's Cove.  Colin and I handed out candy.  We gave out a lot this year, probably more than we ever have in this neighborhood, or ever!  ...

Pumpkin Carving 2016

Image
I invited everyone to our house the day before Halloween for dinner and pumpkin carving.  We had a really fun time being all together as a family and having a yummy meal and carving our pumpkins.  I love how creative everyone gets and what they decide to do with their pumpkins.

Pumpkin Project

Evan presented his Pumpkin Project today.  They practiced reading picture books expressively and fluently so they could read to the first graders.  They decorated pumpkins as the main character in their books.  There were so many creative pumpkins!  Evan chose a family favorite, The little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and THE BIG HUNGRY BEAR.  His pumpkin is a mouse.

Creepy Crawly Pack Meeting

Image
For our October Pack meeting we had a guest come and talk about SNAKES!  He taught us all about native snakes in Utah and informed us on the difference of poisonous and venomous snakes.  He showed us several different types of snakes and let the scouts hold some.  The boys thought it was great!  I tried to stay away from the snakes but my boys were loving it!

Donut Falls Hike (and Breakfast at Penny Ann's)

Image
The boys were off on Friday and Colin stayed home from work too, so we decided to go for a hike!   First, we had breakfast at Penny Ann's Cafe and then we went up to Big Cottonwood Canyon and hiked up to Donut Falls.  It was a little cooler than we were expecting but the hike was nice.
