Memorial Day shooting Trip

Image
Colin and Cole have both been really in to their AR 15 guns lately and they wanted to go shooting.  So on Memorial Day the 8 of us went out to the desert west of Utah lake to do some target shooting.   We had a fun time and tried out a lot of the boys' guns.

Dance Festival 2016

The annual Dance Festival at Sprucewood is one of my favorite events of the year.  This year Evan, a second grader, danced to Twist and Shout.  Ryan, a fifth grader did the Cha Cha slide.  Videos too!

Second Grade City

All of the Second Graders at Sprucewood participated in Second Grade City as a culmination to their community and money units.  Each child had a job at a store or other business in the city.  They each had two rotations, one where they worked, and one where they were the consumers.  Evan had a great time working in the Post Office.  I came to help and was working at the Hospital.  The teachers did a great job or preparing the students for the day. The whole thing went off without a hitch and I was so glad I got to participate.  The Hospital was a popular stop!  Who knew second graders would choose to spend their time and money riding in an "ambulance" and having their wounds dressed.  Ha ha!  8 year olds are the best.   Hospital Movie Theater Ice Cream Shop Post Office Beauty Shop Book Store Candy Store Second Graders ready to hear from their Mayor and kick off "Second Grade City"  Evan counting his money for ice c

Camp Floyd Field Trip with Ryan

Image
I went on a field trip with Ryan to Camp Floyd.  Camp Floyd is actually a Civil War camp in Utah!  Who knew!  The kids had a great time and learned so much.  The docents who run the camp were so great with the kids.  They did seven or eight rotations learning about what the soldiers would have been doing around this time in history.  Of course my favorite part was the school house.  The parent volunteers dressed up as school teachers and the kids got to come in and experience a little bit about what school would have been like.  They made candles, shot rifles, and made clay bricks.  They also had this fun little station where they acted out the Pony Express (see video).

Mother's Day 2016

Image
Mother's Day was awesome this year, just like every year!  I love being spoiled by my boys and husband on Mother's Day.  They always do such a nice job.  The older I get, the more I realize how amazing my mom is (I know, right?) She raised me so well and I'm so grateful to her for that.  This photo of my mom snorkeling in Thailand is my absolute favorite!  She has such a cute smile I was so happy that she could come see Asia with us.  The EQ gave us a nice little bag of goodies and my kids (and husband) have learned not to ask me to share!  ha ha ha.  Colin got me some awesome flowers and a new pan!  Ah, motherhood.  Evan gave me the cutest little book he made at school and they've all been teasing me relentlessly about sleeping in.  The boys made my bed!  In the evening I invited my mom and the whole fam dam over for desserts.  It was perfect!
