Super Trees at Gardens by the Bay

Image
After we checked out the Children's Garden at Garden's by the Bay, we had some time to kill before meeting up with Daddy for dinner.  So, we went to see the Super Trees.  These are like fake trees with real plants arranged on the exterior.  The architecture is really cool to look at from the ground and there's a suspension bridge connecting a few of the trees that gives an INCREDIBLE view of the downtown area of Singapore.  You can see the Marina Bay Sands hotel, the harbor, Sentosa Island, the Singapore Flyer, and a lot more.  Its was really cool.  There's a restaurant you can dine in down there too, I'd like to maybe experience that someday.  This was an awesome experience and I'd love to do it again.

Children's Garden at Gardens by the Bay

The kids have a long weekend due to the Chinese New Year holiday so I decided to take them exploring on Thursday.  We went down to the new Children's Garden at Gardens by the Bay.  This Children's Garden portion just opened up about a week ago and I was looking forward to checking it out.  It did not disappoint.  I was very pleased with our experience. The boys and I took the MRT down and I accidentally mis-navigated us so we ended up taking a quick cab over from the wrong stop to the gardens.  We walked right to it because the gardens were marked very well.  The kids brought their swim suits but were dressed in dry clothing so we did the sand and dry play areas first.  There were lots of things to play on and around.  There were slides, ropes, balance beams, tree-houses, bridges, live trees set up to climb in, and more!  There's also another area for toddlers that's kind of secluded and gives them privacy away from the "big kids". Adventures with my girls

Having Ryan (and Evan) at school all day has some unexpected perks.  I've never had the whole day at home to myself before without a job, kid, or volunteer assignment to take up the day.  So, I've been getting to know some friends and exploring some fun places in Singapore.   The other day, my friend wanted to get some tomatillos for her pork salads and we went on a wild goose chase looking for them.  But all in good fun.  Doesn't this produce look amazing. Yeah, don't worry, still plenty expensive here in the land of all things pricey. Hey, look!  We found it!  Only took us three tries. I went to lunch with a group of ladies from the ward.  We've all been here about the same amount of time.  Coming up on 6 months for us!  We went to a place in Chinatown called "the Noodle Man".  This is the noodle man.  He makes his own noodles, as you can see.  Sorry, this picture isn't very well focused, oops.  Anyway, it's a pretty incredible s

Chinatown Field Trip

Chinese New Year is coming up! This year it falls on January 31st, and it's the Year of the Horse.  I had the privilege of attending a field trip to Chinatown with Evan and his class.  We saw the Buddha Relic Temple, walked around the market stalls, and saw part of the wet market.  Then we ate lunch at the Hawker Center, chicken rice, of course!  Evan was such a good boy and we all had a lot of fun.  Video enclosed at the end. Stole this image from a friend.
