4 months


Evan was 4 months on Monday. He had a cousin born on that day, Molly Dierkop (pretty sure that's what they're naming her), so that is really cool- they'll be exactly 4 months apart. Today Evan had his check-up with the doctor. He weighs 16 pounds 8 ounces (75th percentile) measures 26 inches long (90th percentile) and his head measurement is at 50th percentile. Needless to say, he's still growing well. He's a happy baby most of the time and he's a lot of fun! Ryan and he are really starting to take better notice of each other. Evan looks for Ryan in the mornings and Ryan always says hello to him. Ry has also tried interacting with him a little better. I can't think of any great examples to write, but its really cute how they're starting to notice each other more.

WOW!!! That is about what Kei weighed on his nine month check up! He's such a big boy! I cannot believe how much like his daddy he looks. As far as the brother thing, it's the best isn't it? Cam FINALLY goes out of his way (without me telling him to do so) to hug his brother and tell him hello or good morning. It's slow but we're getting there. You have one handsome baby!

Spode Dish Factory

I went with a few friends on a mommy-field trip to the Spode Dish factory in Malaysia.  We had the best time and it was an experience I won't soon forget.  We met at Becky's in the morning and got our three car caravan ready to go.  We said a prayer, did a cheer and were off at about 9 am.  We crossed the border without any issues (except for toll top-up cards) and hit the road.  In about an hour we arrived at this little side-of-the-road pottery market.  It was typical of a third-world place. True Outlet shopping.  There was a nice aluminum roof and some big fans to keep us cool.  The plates were very dusty from being outside so long but there were so many lovely treasures.  We all had a good time just wandering around searching for new dishes. I was looking for a set of every-day dishes and anything else was a bonus in my mind.  Spode is a European brand that outsources production to Malaysia.  Their retail cost is pretty high...

Skiing

This winter has been AWFUL so far.  I just KNEW it would be too!  We've had two very mild winters back to back and I knew that meant we would have to pay for it this year.   The inversion has been so bad this year that since Christmas it's been above 30 degrees like 3 or 4 times!!! Most days, it's been in the teens or lower.  I've been substituting for a teacher who was on maternity leave since December 10th.  So many inside recess days, I thought I was going to lose my mind.   My long-term job ended on Friday and with Martin Luther King Junior day on Monday, I just really wanted to get out of the inversion.  I tried to convince Colin to go to Las Vegas with me but we decided that wasn't very realistic, still cold there too.   Then I proposed skiing and we both decided it would be really fun to take the boys!  I was really pretty nervous about teaching both of the boys but the day was so amazing I couldn't even believe it.  ...
