Our New Home

We moved to our new house at the beginning of this month.  Things have been pretty crazy  in our household for several weeks and I feel like I'm finally starting to catch my breath only to find myself coughing with a Spring cold.  But we have many blessings and are grateful for them all; I cannot complain.
It has been a long-time dream of mine to buy a home and settle down.  The timing wasn't right for us until early this year.  We finally decided, after 10 years of living together in Utah, that this is the place we'll stay.  When we make a decision, we move fast.  We started looking for houses after Valentine's day and within the first 6 days had made 3 different offers.  Our third offer was accepted and we closed escrow 16 short days later.  Wee moved in the same day we closed; March 3rd.  It was quite a whirlwind of paper work, moving boxes, and heavy lifting but alas, we are HOME!

We really love our new house and neighborhood.  Everyone we meet here tells us that "The Bluff" is one of the greatest places to live.  Many of our neighbors are quite a bit older than us and they say they're never moving.  Our neighborhood is so friendly and there is a real sense of community here.  The Neighborhood Watch program is alive and well here.  They've been by to meet us and have already sent us emails and invited us to our first event: the Easter Egg hunt.

I've included pictures from before we moved in, it was quite a rush because the moving van was right behind me but I do plan to take "after" pictures once we get fully settled.  And that's up to me!  I want it to be perfect before I post it but I'm getting really close.  With Spring Break coming up, I'll be sure to get it done (according to my own standards) in the next week or two.
This is the formal living room, the first room as you walk in the front door. I love the MDF and the light fixtures are so cute!
My glorious kitchen.  I love the glass doors on the white cupboards, the back splash, the concrete tile, the light fixtures, the little spice rack cupboard in the corner... I just love this kitchen.  Can't you tell!

Another view of the living room
This is our family room.  We love the built-in bookshelves and fireplace.  I also love our new sectional that we bought for this room- pictures coming, stay tuned!
 The main bathroom: boys' bathroom.
This is the master.  It's a large room and is a little difficult to photograph.
 Master bathroom
Master closet.  Don't worry Colin's and my shoes do NOT fit in this closet, we have to put several pairs in the garage.  Tee hee.
 hi guys!
This is the third bedroom.  We're using it as our guest room. I love the wall color.  Actually, the paint throughout the house is very nice, I'm not changing a thing- for now!
The boy's room.  Our house has 5 bedrooms but we're keeping the boys together.  Colin and I both believe that they should be together.  We think that it's part of growing up with your sibling to share a room.  We love to listen to them talk before they fall asleep at night and let's be honest, they're very young and don't need much of their own space.
looking back toward their door.  I love their big closet.
This is that guest room, from the other direction.
I love this nice big linen closet.  I almost have it filled up now too!  In our old house, this is where our laundry room is.  I would say that is maybe one small draw-back to this house, the laundry is downstairs.  But, I'm getting used to it and I doubt I'll notice pretty soon.
This powder room is located just off the garage.  Love having that there.  Through the second door is the laundry room.  I love the slate on the floor.
The laundry room.  A whole room, with a cabinet and everything.  Which, is currently empty. But hey, room to grow, right?
Stairs leading down to the basement and two more bedrooms and a couple of storage rooms.
This room is acting as my office and crafting room.
 This room is our playroom.
A utility closet and the room where my 30 boxes of teaching supplies and files are being stored.
This is our storage room.  Currently it holds food storage, toiletries, and some decoration boxes.

 The moving van.
Our address, well, part of it.  And I love the outdoor lamps too!

Love this window and will you look at that view!
I hope it doesn't sound like I'm bragging.  I'm not.  I'm just very excited to finally own a home!  We love our house and are so happy!
