Yellowstone Day 1


From Grand Tetons National Park we drove north to the South entrance of Yellowstone National Park.  We were able to see A LOT the first day in Yellowstone.  We saw quite a bit of wildlife including some birds Ryan was really excited about.  We got to go to Old Faithful and see all of the Hot Springs and geysers around that area.  I was an idiot and turned around on the trail before the best two hot springs thinking that they were in the other direction, I'm still killing myself about that!  It was a little bit on the hot side while walking out on the walkways in the direct sunlight, but other than that, we had an awesome day of sight-seeing in Yellowstone.  I hope this is a trip that Ryan and Evan will remember.  

That evening we went into West Yellowstone and got some yummy Mexican Food from a taco truck.  It was actually a school bus.  Evan bought some antlers and we shopped around a little bit before heading out to the cabin.  

We were able to stay at a family cabin for the second time.  Last time I took the boys to Yellowstone, my Grandparents and Mom were with us.  I asked my Aunt JoAnna if we could borrow their family cabin for our stay and luckily it was available !  It is just the perfect family cabin, it fits quite a few people for sleep and is in a great location in Island Park, Idaho.

Spode Dish Factory

I went with a few friends on a mommy-field trip to the Spode Dish factory in Malaysia.  We had the best time and it was an experience I won't soon forget.  We met at Becky's in the morning and got our three car caravan ready to go.  We said a prayer, did a cheer and were off at about 9 am.  We crossed the border without any issues (except for toll top-up cards) and hit the road.  In about an hour we arrived at this little side-of-the-road pottery market.  It was typical of a third-world place. True Outlet shopping.  There was a nice aluminum roof and some big fans to keep us cool.  The plates were very dusty from being outside so long but there were so many lovely treasures.  We all had a good time just wandering around searching for new dishes. I was looking for a set of every-day dishes and anything else was a bonus in my mind.  Spode is a European brand that outsources production to Malaysia.  Their retail cost is pretty high but we got some amazing deals.  After we had

Baby Evan Makes his Arrival

The nurses from Alta View called me yesterday to let me know that my c-section was scheduled for 7:30am, and that we needed to be at the hospital by 6:00am. So much for sleeping in! Grandma and Grandpa took Ryan last night so that we wouldn't have to drop him off before the crack of dawn. We arrived at the hospital this morning at 6:00 as directed and got all admitted. At about 7:00 they let us know that we were being bumped because of an emergency c-section that they needed to do ahead of us. At around 8:00 they took us back to the operating room. The anesthesiologist came in and did his thing. Colin was great to help me through the whole surgery process. Our baby boy was born at 8:26 am. He weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. He has dark hair but not tons of it and it's probably curly, I would guess. His name is Evan Miles Dean. Evan's 10th Birthday!

Our sweet Evan turned 10!  We had his birthday party for friends and family at Obstacle Warrior Kids in Sandy.  It is a new place and the kids had a great time getting their warrior on. I think the crowd favorite was "the wall"  and they all tried to get to the top many times.  I'm pretty sure they all conquered the wall at least once.  On Evan's actual birthday we had birthday waffles, dinner of pancakes (he likes breakfast I guess) and dessert at Last Course (another new place) in Draper.   We sure do love you, kid!
