Ryan's Portrait Session

I finally took Ryan in to get portraits this year- a little later than his Birthday, but it worked out okay with Halloween. Anyway, I was really pleased with the pictures and he did very well during the picture taking. The photographer wanted to put me in some of the shots- this was not my request- but a few of them are cute. It is so hard to decide which photos to order prints of, but I had a fun time and I can't wait until they come back. He also had portraits done in his Halloween costume, but you're going to have to wait for those a little while longer.


I think this one is my favorite because it shows so much personality.

Yes he played with the cars the entire shoot, but it made it bearable, so I didn't complain.
Kind of a funny pose there, but still cute.
This one I didn't order and I'm kicking myself, I may just have to do it after all.
And a nice close-up. You can see a small I'm-a-two-year-old-who-never-slows-down bruise on his head so I ordered this one in Sepia.

Those turned out great!! I love the one of him giving you a kiss. I always come home and realize I've ordered all the wrong pictures. :) Usually I try to take someone with me to help me choose. That first one is also pretty great. What fun!!

He's such a handsome boy! I'd have problems picking too! I'm terrible about professional photos. It's the journalist at heart. I like the messy snap shots.

Spode Dish Factory

I went with a few friends on a mommy-field trip to the Spode Dish factory in Malaysia.  We had the best time and it was an experience I won't soon forget.  We met at Becky's in the morning and got our three car caravan ready to go.  We said a prayer, did a cheer and were off at about 9 am.  We crossed the border without any issues (except for toll top-up cards) and hit the road.  In about an hour we arrived at this little side-of-the-road pottery market.  It was typical of a third-world place. True Outlet shopping.  There was a nice aluminum roof and some big fans to keep us cool.  The plates were very dusty from being outside so long but there were so many lovely treasures.  We all had a good time just wandering around searching for new dishes. Baby Evan Makes his Arrival

The nurses from Alta View called me yesterday to let me know that my c-section was scheduled for 7:30am, and that we needed to be at the hospital by 6:00am. So much for sleeping in! Grandma and Grandpa took Ryan last night so that we wouldn't have to drop him off before the crack of dawn. We arrived at the hospital this morning at 6:00 as directed and got all admitted. At about 7:00 they let us know that we were being bumped because of an emergency c-section that they needed to do ahead of us. At around 8:00 they took us back to the operating room. The anesthesiologist came in and did his thing. Colin was great to help me through the whole surgery process. Our baby boy was born at 8:26 am. He weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. He has dark hair but not tons of it and it's probably curly, I would guess. His name is Evan Miles Dean. Evan's 10th Birthday!

Our sweet Evan turned 10!  We had his birthday party for friends and family at Obstacle Warrior Kids in Sandy.  It is a new place and the kids had a great time getting their warrior on. I think the crowd favorite was "the wall"  and they all tried to get to the top many times.  I'm pretty sure they all conquered the wall at least once.  On Evan's actual birthday we had birthday waffles, dinner of pancakes (he likes breakfast I guess) and dessert at Last Course (another new place) in Draper.   We sure do love you, kid!
