Summer Projects

I've done a lot of projects this summer. I have to find things to keep me busy and my mind is always thinking of things I could be working on.

On my to do list this summer were:

clean out the pantry
clean and organize the drawers in the kitchen
clean and organize the bathroom cupboard
organize my teaching supplies
clean out the 10 boxes of books I brought home from my classroom library
clean out the basement storage room
clean out the garage and organize it, wash out the floor to the garage
prune the trees in the back yard
trim the hedges in the front yard
clean out my dresser
go through all of the boys clothes and put them into bins by size
shampoo the carpet in the basement, STAIRS, and our bedroom
organize the hall linen closet
clean out the boys toys
organize the office and all of my craft supplies



And when I was all done with everything, have a garage sale.

Well... my house is now completely organized. Everything on my to do list is DONE!!! And, I've had my garage sale to. I love it!

I love doing projects. It gives me a sense of purpose. I like having something to do that is really productive. I love the way I feel when I'm all finished, sometimes I'll just open the drawers in the kitchen, or open the pantry to see everything so neatly organized and put away. I wish I had taken pictures of more of my projects, but I have not. At least I have my trusty rusty list to prove that I've done something.

When I was working full time it was really hard to keep everything organized the way I'd like them to be. But now I can say that all I have to do is maintain the order and now I can start maybe decorating this place up a little bit. I've been looking at tons of crafting websites and the wheels have been turning. Now I'll just have to find a way to pay for all of my fun projects now that I've quit my job.

Way to go! Sounds like you are going to have some fun while your not working fulltime as a teacher.:)

Spode Dish Factory

I went with a few friends on a mommy-field trip to the Spode Dish factory in Malaysia.  We had the best time and it was an experience I won't soon forget.  We met at Becky's in the morning and got our three car caravan ready to go.  We said a prayer, did a cheer and were off at about 9 am.  We crossed the border without any issues (except for toll top-up cards) and hit the road.  In about an hour we arrived at this little side-of-the-road pottery market.  It was typical of a third-world place. True Outlet shopping.  There was a nice aluminum roof and some big fans to keep us cool.  The plates were very dusty from being outside so long but there were so many lovely treasures.  We all had a good time just wandering around searching for new dishes. Baby Evan Makes his Arrival

The nurses from Alta View called me yesterday to let me know that my c-section was scheduled for 7:30am, and that we needed to be at the hospital by 6:00am. So much for sleeping in! Grandma and Grandpa took Ryan last night so that we wouldn't have to drop him off before the crack of dawn. We arrived at the hospital this morning at 6:00 as directed and got all admitted. At about 7:00 they let us know that we were being bumped because of an emergency c-section that they needed to do ahead of us. At around 8:00 they took us back to the operating room. The anesthesiologist came in and did his thing. Colin was great to help me through the whole surgery process. Our baby boy was born at 8:26 am. He weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces and was 21 inches long. He has dark hair but not tons of it and it's probably curly, I would guess. His name is Evan Miles Dean. This is Ryan and I painting letters for baby Evan. So, I guess we've made up our mind on the first name. I have a funny story to tell about Ryan. Yesterday he was playing with his little match-box cars on the table. He decided it would be fun to drive them through some "powder". So, he dumped out as much pepper as he could get out of the shaker and began driving the little truck through it. Later on he put the truck in his mouth. He quickly found out that it didn't taste so good. He kept rubbing his tongue on the couch, his blanket, and his shirt, trying to get the taste to go away. It was just too funny. I gave him some juice and that didn't work either so we eventually washed his hands and brushed his teeth to help him get rid of the pepper taste. Well, I survived my long week at work. Parent-Teacher conferences went well and I only didn't see two parents. I didn't get yelled at and my sugars stayed normal throughout the conferencing. I am so relieved
