Spode Dish Factory

I went with a few friends on a mommy-field trip to the Spode Dish factory in Malaysia.  We had the best time and it was an experience I won't soon forget.  We met at Becky's in the morning and got our three car caravan ready to go.  We said a prayer, did a cheer and were off at about 9 am.  We crossed the border without any issues (except for toll top-up cards) and hit the road.  In about an hour we arrived at this little side-of-the-road pottery market.  It was typical of a third-world place. True Outlet shopping.  There was a nice aluminum roof and some big fans to keep us cool.  The plates were very dusty from being outside so long but there were so many lovely treasures.  We all had a good time just wandering around searching for new dishes. I was looking for a set of every-day dishes and anything else was a bonus in my mind.  Spode is a European brand that outsources production to Malaysia.  Their retail cost is pretty high...

Two Dreams

I’ve always been one to plan. I’d call myself a Type-A personality, and so would everyone that knows me. The good thing is I married a man who’s a lot the same in that respect. We’ve always been really good about planning things out and thinking them through in advance. We had our son named before he was even conceived. So in planning our lives together, we always planned for me to be a stay-at-home mother; to raise our children full-time. I've always had two dreams in my heart. I wanted to be a mother, and I also wanted to be a teacher. I’ve wanted to be a teacher since a very young age, except for that stint where I wanted to be an airline attendant. Then there was 9-11 and being a full-time traveler didn’t exactly match up with my other goal of being a mother. On the first day of my freshman year at the University, I declared myself an Elementary Education major. Fun Run

Ryan's school does a Fun Run instead of a fundraiser.  I think it's great.  The school gets all of the benefit of a fundraiser without having to sell families and friends crap that no one wants anyway.  Also, the kids get to do some great physical activity, and they realize what they're running for.   Our PTA president is amazing and she organized this event so well.  Evan and I went to help for a few hours.  We kept time for the runners and organized the lap counters for each group of runners.  Evan ran with two different groups.  He thought that he was all involved and just kept running and running.  It was so cute.  He ran for about 30 minutes straight and ended up running about 2 miles!  And he's not even in school!  Ryan got to run with his class and they ran for 15 minutes.  Ryan did 15 laps.  I was really proud of both boys!
