Jurong Bird Park: Ryan's class field trip

Image
It's crazy to think that this will be Ryan's ONLY class field trip this year.  I guess that's what you get when you start school in January.  Anyway, I was quite excited to attend this field trip with Ryan and his classmates.  First of all, because he hasn't been on any school field trips yet this year, and secondly, because I hadn't been to the Bird Park yet.  I love birds.  When I was a teenager we had a green parrot named Baby.   She would eat lasagna and ice cream- from a fork or spoon!  We took her to California with us one time.   I loved that thing more than I realized.  That dang bird died a couple of days before (or was it after?) Christmas one year and I'll never forget my dad and I crying outside of the pet hospital.  But, I digress.   The Jurong Bird Park is pretty awesome.  If you get a chance to go, do it!  It's basically as good as the Singapore Zoo only it's ALL birds.  We had a really great time ...

Easter

Image
I suppose I was a bit of a bah humbug this Easter.  My kids didn't dye eggs or do any Easter crafts or attend any egg hunts.  But, the Easter Bunny did pay them a visit and left some pretty neat stuff.  They were also left some plastic eggs filled with candy.  I didn't take any photos of that because I was up way too late the night before and was pretty much under the weather that morning.  Being in charge of all the little kids in the congregation makes you realize how off they can get when they fill their veins with sugar the morning before church.  Yikes!  I needed a nap afterward. But, our service was beautiful and I truly felt the spirit witness to me the truthfulness of our Gospel and of His divine plan. I am grateful to my Savior for laying down his life for me.  I am grateful for the knowledge that he rose again on the third day and that I too can be resurrected someday through his redeeming power.

Basketball Clinic

Ryan attended a basketball clinic put on by Singapore's professional team the Singapore Slingers.  A group of kids his age learned a few things about shooting and did some drills with the players.  Afterward the faculty and pros had a scrimmage game.  Ryan was excited to see a few friends there that morning too.   Ryan is wearing a red tank top and black shorts, second in on the left.  Ryan is right in the middle behind two kids in Heat Jerseys, all you can see is his head

Thailand in Video

Image
I took a lot of videos in Thailand.  Instead of uploading them individually to YouTube and posting them in chronological order like I usually do, I made a video of the whole trip.  I've already posted this to Facebook but here it is again. Okay, Okay, I'm officially finished documenting Thailand.  Thanks for your patience! kay thanks love ya bye

Thailand, Day 6: Beach & Return trip

Image
Our last day in Phuket :(  We went to the beach in the morning and flew home in the afternoon.   Thailand was seriously the best vacation I've ever been on!  I loved every minute of it.  Except for maybe when my baby was getting stitches.  We owe some gratitude to Stuart and Brooke for showing us all around and teaching us how to travel in Asia.  Can't wait till our next trip!

Thailand, Day 5: Big Buddha

Image
Our fifth day in Phuket we went for a jungle tour.  We first rode Polaris' up to the Big Buddha statue then went to the jungle to complete a ropes and zip line course.  This was a fun day!  It was really the first time I'd driven any kind of vehicle in 7 months!  It was fun to be behind the wheel of an ATV again.  The first one I got in was pretty much a junker though so I had to switch it out half way through.  The Big Buddah statue is pretty cool.  The kids thought it was fun to see and Colin and I really enjoyed the views of the island.   After we drove our ATVs back, we went to a ropes course.  Evan was too small to do the big course (and Ryan was just barely tall enough) so Colin and Evan went to the kid's zone and Ryan and I did the big stuff.  Let me just say, I had no idea how hilly Thailand is.  Singapore is pretty flat but Phuket had tons of hills.  The ropes course was pretty tough physically.  I guess I wa...

Thailand Day 4: Saying goodbye

Image
On Day 4 we took it nice and slow, relaxed at the pool, hung out in the shade healing our sunburns.  Stuart and his family had to head back to China so we said goodbye to them that morning.  We had 2 more nights to enjoy in Phuket!
